Don't Walk By, Queens House of Prayer and Glen's Story! - Amy's Adventures February Update~

What a month it's been!  The Lord has been doing so much on the streets of NYC and here in our midst at Street LIFE. Don't Walk By Outreach, answered prayers in the Queens House of Prayer and stories of lives changed by outreach, just to name a few.

Hope you enjoy reading this month's update!

Don't Walk By:
We just finished another successful year of our annual "Don't Walk By" campaign, which trained and mobilized volunteers to walk the streets and to do a "search and rescue" for the homeless. The Lord has been so faithful and there have been so many lives touched. I will have more statistics and stories to follow next month.

Queens House of Prayer:
Tuesday afternoon prayer watch is my favorite of the week. The topic? Human/sex trafficking. Today there are over 2.5 million victims of human trafficking, a number I am often overwhelmed thinking about. During a recent watch Mary Anna and I prayed for the Lord to expose what's happening here in NYC, specifically for "God to raise up voices in the media and law enforcement who will speak out against this injustice and not be silenced."

You can imagine the excitement we felt when we saw an answer to our prayers in a local newspaper story! It told the account of a woman who was deceived with promises of a better life in America, and upon arrival in New York was taken captive as a sex slave. How awesome is our God! He let us join in the fight and gives us strategy on how to pray. This is what I so enjoy about being part of the Queens House of Prayer, knowing that as we worship and seek Him, He gives us His heart of intercession and answers our cries. I am excited to see what God will continue to do through our prayers, knowing it's His desire that His "house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples" (Isaiah 56:7).

For more information about our Queens House of Prayer or how you can participate, you can contact me or check our website at www.qhopf.com

Born Again & Serving Tompkins Square Park:
This is a three minute documentary of our neighbor Glen. He gave his life to the Lord just over two years ago in one of our Sunday evening services and now does almost everything with us. Please watch, I prayed you'd be blessed by it.

Thank you all for reading this update. As always let me know how you are doing, I would love to pray for you!

Prayer Stations, NYE's Outreach & Much More...

Hey everyone!

Hope all is well. Happy New Year to you and your family. 2012 is going to be an amazing year!

For this month, I have included in my video update some sweet testimonies including New Year's Eve outreach and things God is doing here at SLM.

Some additional updates/prayer requests:

  • School: After 4 1/2 years I am finally done and have graduated with a degree in Social Work!!
  • Don't Walk By: This year DWB is every Saturday in the month of February. For anyone looking for an opportunity to do homeless outreach, this is the perfect chance! Right now we still need volunteers for Feb. 4, 18, and 25. To check out more info or sign up go to:  http://dontwalkby.org/main/how-to-help/

  • Health: As of right now, the doctor says I am recovering well and seem to have no additional issues.Thank you for your support and prayers during this time.
  • Finances: recently my monthly support went from 36% to 25% of my fundraising goal. Right now I am in the process of meeting with people in order to share the vision of Street LIFE and develop ministry partners, please pray as my goal is to get fully funded before summer.

Thank you once again for all your prayers and support!

Love,
Amy

Video & November Updates

Hello everyone!

How are you doing? I hope all is well with you.

First off, I want to thank you guys for your support & prayers throughout this month. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the encouragements and phone calls I've received. So far God has supplied much grace to go through the recovery process, and the doctor believes the surgery was successful. As for the provision, I've raised most, if not all, the finances needed to pay everything. (At this point I am uncertain about the total because all the bills have not yet come in.)  Hallelujah! Our God is faithful; it has truly been amazing to see how He comes through!

Also, earlier this month Mary Anna and I got to speak at a India Christian Assembly's "Charity Night." It was an exciting thing for me to share testimonies from the streets, as well as my personal testimony. The Lord answered some of the cries in my heart to be able to connect with the local Body and impart passion to share Jesus. I know there is much PURPOSE for living here in this great city of nations, and I loved seeing the excitement as people were eager to respond to the challenge of sharing hope to the hurting and lost. So in lieu of the usual video update, I've decided to send a few clips from that night. Hope you enjoy.

Last but not least, with a little over a month left of college, my hope is that I will stay focused, finish strong and continue to be a light to my classmates and professors. I have two finals and papers due in these next couple of weeks. I would greatly appreciate your prayers through this time.

Once again I want to thank you for reading.

Important Request

Dear Friends,

How are you doing? I hope all is well with you. I pray that you're enjoying a restful and stress free holiday season with your families.

At the moment, I have an important request to bring before you. This past week I went to the doctor and found out that I was going to need surgery. It's nothing serious but due to the nature of the situation I need to have the operation soon. The clinic is offering a highly discounted rate, however the whole procedure is going to cost about $1000 (maybe more - that's the amount I know right now). My goal is to get this paid off by the end of this month. The surgery is scheduled for this Thursday Nov 10th.

I am asking you to prayerfully consider giving a gift to help cover the cost. Please know I am thankful for whatever amount comes in and for your prayers/support through the years. This took me by surprise but I know that God has me in His hands and His timing is perfect.  I will keep you posted on how the surgery goes.

Thank you so much for reading this and for praying.

In Christ,
Amy Wong

p.s. If you feel led to give a gift, you can send a check made out to Ho Yin Wong (my Chinese name) to 154-11 Ash Ave Flushing, NY 11355 or through my Paypal account located on the side of my blog or click this link Paypal.
